UV DTF Crystal Sticker vs. UV DTF 3D Badges

UV DTF Crystal Sticker vs. UV DTF 3D Badges

Many people, when choosing a UV DTF printer, only focus on price and specifications, but overlook one key question: which solution is actually suitable for the products you plan to print?

Choose the wrong solution, and the common result is this—a design printed on a T-shirt may crack after just a few washes, while a design on a cup may start lifting at the edges with just a slight pick.

Whether you want to DIY at home or use it for a studio or commercial production, you need to understand the two solutions first—this will make the entire purchasing process much clearer.

Next, this article will take you through the two printing solutions of the MU1730 UV DTF printer in detail, helping you find the option that better suits you.

Solution A: UV DTF Transfer Sticker

Solution A uses the traditional UV DTF transfer process.

Applicable substrates: hard, smooth surfaces such as mugs, tumblers, glass cups, phone cases, gift boxes, acrylic, and hard packaging boxes.

Finished product types: transfer stickers, crystal labels, crystal sticker decals.

Consumables: UV crystal sticker-specific ink, A/B film.

Its basic production process: upload the designed artwork to our software → adjust the size and quantity → click print → print onto A film → complete lamination → remove or cut out the needed design → transfer onto the object surface.

After transfer, the crystal sticker has a transparent, clear finish with sharp graphics and good scratch resistance. Once applied to compatible smooth surfaces, it can keep colors vivid and details clear for a long time.

Solution B: UV-3D Badges Printing

Solution B is not about making ordinary UV DTF stickers “thicker.”

It uses a different production principle.

UV 3D badge printing is closer to 3D logo printing.

Applicable substrates: textile fabrics such as T-shirts, hoodies, hats, denim apparel, canvas bags, and footwear.

Finished product types: 3D badges, raised logos, tactile 3D labels.

Consumables & equipment: UV 3D badge-specific ink, TPU film, and a heat press.

Basic production process of Solution B: create a design → perform 3D pattern printing → build up thickness through ink stacking → use a heat press for transfer.

Through direct printing and layer-by-layer ink stacking, a pattern with noticeable thickness and a 3D feel is formed.

The final result is a 3D badge with a raised feel—the tactile feel is more pronounced, and it also looks more three-dimensional.

The two processes cannot be converted into each other.

The MU1730 offers two different configuration options: Option A corresponds to the crystal sticker transfer system, and Option B corresponds to the 3D badge printing system.

The two are all different in hardware configuration, ink system, and supporting consumables, so they cannot be switched by simply changing consumables.

Option A cannot be directly converted into Option B after purchase, and Option B cannot be directly converted into Option A either.

The corresponding consumables cannot be assumed to be interchangeable by default.

Don't assume that because both devices involve UV printing, you can switch processes simply by changing ink or film.

Which solution is more suitable for you?

The choice can actually be very simple.

If you mainly make hard-surface products, such as cups, phone cases, glass products, gift boxes, acrylic, etc., simply choose Option A: MU1730 UV DTF Crystal Sticker.

If you mainly make textile products, such as T-shirts, hats, hoodies, canvas bags, etc., and want a more obvious 3D effect, then choose Option B: MU1730 UV DTF 3D Badges.

Rather than asking “which solution is better,” it’s better to ask first:

“What do I ultimately want to make?”

Once the product direction is clear, the process choice becomes much simpler.

If you enjoy DIY and want to make your own phone cases, cups, gifts, or other personalized products, the MU1730 UV DTF Printer is your best creative tool.

If you already have a studio, you can also choose the process solution that better suits you based on your existing product types and production needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

I. Consumables

Q1: How long can one set of consumables last?
A: This depends on your printing volume, pattern size, coverage area, and maintenance frequency. For low-frequency DIY users, one set of ink typically lasts 1–3 months. For high-frequency commercial use, it may need to be replenished within a few weeks. We recommend asking your supplier for a consumables consumption estimate based on your expected monthly print volume.

Q2: Which consumables need continuous replenishment?
A: Option A requires continuous replenishment of UV crystal sticker-specific ink, A/B film, cleaning solution, lint-free cloth, etc. Option B requires UV 3D badge-specific ink, TPU film, cleaning solution, etc. White ink, cleaning solution, and film tend to be consumed faster.

Q3: Are additional fixtures, tools, or supporting equipment needed?
A: Option A is simple to operate and only requires a basic tool—a squeegee. Some curved products need dedicated fixtures. Option B needs to be paired with a heat press and may also need positioning fixtures, high-temperature resistant pads, etc.

II. Usage Frequency and Production Volume

Q1: For occasional DIY, a model with basic functions and simple operation is enough; for continuous daily use, it is recommended to choose a model with a high degree of automation.

Q2: How many products do you need to make daily?

A: Estimate based on daily or weekly order volume. 10 pieces or fewer, 30 pieces, or 100 pieces per day — the requirements for printing speed and production capacity are completely different.

Q3: If you want to continuously process multiple orders, can the machine support it stably?

A: Yes. Our machine is equipped with a white ink circulation and stirring system, can support long-term stable operation, and printhead maintenance is also very convenient. Following the daily maintenance process helps ensure stability during continuous production.

III. Available Space

Q1: What are the length, width, and height of the equipment?
A: Subject to the actual model specifications. Ask the supplier for exact dimensions before purchasing.

Q2: How much placement space needs to be reserved?
A: In addition to the machine itself, you also need to reserve space for a consumables rack, a heat press, and a packing area. It is recommended to leave at least 60–100 cm of operating space in front, 30–50 cm of maintenance space on both sides, and 20–30 cm behind for heat dissipation and cable routing space.

Q3: How much operating distance should be left at the front, back, and both sides?
A: The front is for taking and placing finished products and for operation; both sides are for maintenance and film replacement; the back is for heat dissipation and plugging in cables. Insufficient space can lead to restricted operation, poor heat dissipation, and even affect printing stability.

Before placing an order, clarify these three questions—consumables, production capacity, and space—so you can avoid discovering after delivery that you “can't afford to use it, can't finish it, or can't fit it.”
